Day One: Took a Two Minute Shower

Day One: Took a 2-Minute Shower
Conserved water by taking a 2-minute shower. I definitely enjoy my long showers, but taking a 2-minute shower every once in a while won’t hurt me and it’ll help conserve water.

On average 35% of all water used in the average home is from showers and bath tubs. courtesy of BeingWater

What was your simple green act for the day?

    Hi, Mike.
I´m from Brazil. Sorry for the poor English.
I see your blog and like it very much. Congratulations.
I'll try to do my best for help planet from here. And I'll share it if my friends.

People like you can change the world.
    Bye.

  • Elton. Thank you for the comment. I need to make a trip out to Brasil.

It's very easy for you. You don't have any hair and don't need to buy shampoo or hair conditioner. hahaha
But I like your exemple and I'll try to do the same.
(Excuse the bad english, I'm brazilian and I speak portuguese) =p

  • No need to apologize. The comment is appreciated.

The purpose is to shorten the length of the shower. If you usually take a 10 minute, make it an 8 minute or a 5 minute. Every minute counts.

That's awesome! Great idea, BTW! I think I will do the same tonight. Me? I turn off all of my surge protectors before I step out in the morning.

  • Good stuff bro. It's the little things that add up and make a difference. Will I take 10 minute showers sometimes, no doubt, but I'll also start taking much shorter showers as well.

  • I showered with a solar shower (3 gallon capacity) for over 5 years, with long hair, so I know it's possible! And taking a 'Navy' shower is a great option (water on, rinse, water off, soap up, water on, rinse off)

  • Saw some of those solar powered showers when I was at Bonnaroo. They seemed pretty sweet.

  • This is a great idea - I shall be return to see ho you get on. I do have to say though, it's much more difficult to shower in 2 mins when you have long hair!

  • So shave it, duh. It's all relative if you usually take a 15 minute shower, then take a 10 minute shower. Doesn't have to be two minutes. Cutting down anyway will make a difference.

  • Love the day by day approach! I try to set monthly green goals for myself, so I'm looking forward to getting some new ideas and inspiration. It'll be fun!

  • Thanks Sarah. I'm hoping to get some new ideas and inspiration as well...Only 364 more days to go.

Go Mikey! Saving the planet one day at a time. Will be keeping an eye out for more tips over the next year.

  • Thanks. It'll be a challenge, but it'll be fun. It's the little things that make a difference.
