Day 55: Lent Book To Friend

Day 56: Lent Book To Friend

A few weeks ago, I borrowed a book from the library that a friend suggested. Today I lent a book that I owned to a friend.

“Each year in the United States, 1.1 million tons of books are sent away with the garbage, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Of that total, only 0.5 percent are recovered for recycling…When you borrow from the library, you’re not only reusing a product but are also keeping that book from almost certain demise.” (Courtesy of BlueEgg)

What was your simple green act for the day?

Very cool! It is worth mentioning also the various projects that already exist to pass on books, in public places, for strangers, where the only commitment is to read the book you find out thereabout, and then "forget" it somewhere for someone else to find it, read it and repeat the whole process infinitely, making the book free and nomadic. Who does not know, see the website http://oglobo.globo.com/opinia... or http://www.bookcrossing.com/
  • Never heard of those sites. Thanks!
