Day 322: Reused Glass Jar to Store Dried Herbs

Day 322: Reused Glass Jar to Store Dried Herbs
After drying out the herbs in the dehydrator, I ground them up and put them in a mason jar for storage.

The energy saved by recycling one glass bottle is enough to light a 100-watt light bulb for four hours. Get more facts about glass from Earth911.com.

Any dried herb would be keeping the most of it's strength [essential oils] if grinned between palms just before the use, while left in one peace while stored. Drying herbs using natural airflow, w/o heat prevents essential oils to evaporate. Herbs need to be set apart on a large cloth [greenest], or a paper napkin or a plate [I use wooden plates with or w/o a napkin, depending on what do I dry] or hanged in a bunch in a well ventilated, dry place [http://www.bestdryingrack.com/...].
Well, most of our homes are such [overheated during the summer, well heated & dry during the winter season thx. to air conditioning /heating systems]. If the electricity is already spent for heating /air conditioning it needs not to be spent for drying herbs in a dryer - using a dryer for that matter seems as "green washing" the whole thing.
